I decided to combine my Thesis project and the final together, here is a brief introduction of the concept:
I’m often inspired by moments when we interact with nature—like the way leaves sway in the breeze or shadows shift along a hiking trail. When we recall these experiences, what stays in our memory is often a small detail—a slice of that fleeting moment, like a looped gif playing in our minds.
In this project, I want to recreate that feeling through light—designing an object that captures a slice of a natural phenomenon. Something you can keep in your home, something quiet and simple, that through subtle interaction, can gently trigger a memory of the natural world and remind you of your own presence within it.
A drop of water / a slice of water / a captured moment
Using the fluidity of light as a responsive medium, the project invites quiet encounters where presence is gently illuminated. When untouched, the light remains still—but it got gently tilted, the light flows along the surface like a drop of water rolling in a bowl, moving toward the lowest point. The object will facing and stop at any angle the user tilted the object.
